The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) have launched the fourth edition of the Future Engineer program, which is designed to develop students’ engineering skills and help them shape their future career paths.
The program, scheduled to run until July 23, will provide specialized workshops in several engineering disciplines. It will also include site visits across various Ashghal departments, as well as hands-on project work in the laboratories and departments of the Qatar Scientific Club.
The first week will deliver both theoretical and practical training through visits and hands-on experiences, including exposure to the daily operations of departments such as Engineering Services, Information Systems, Quality and Safety, and Building Projects.
The participants will also get the opportunity to tour the Assets Sector building, equipping them with insights into wastewater and road network monitoring and the role of technology in asset operation and maintenance.
The second week of the Future Engineer program will take place at Qatar Scientific Club, where students will attend workshops and apply their knowledge in innovative projects that address real-world engineering challenges in Qatar.
The training sessions will cover basic engineering concepts, teamwork, creative thinking, project planning and management, communication and presentation skills, and the use of 3D digital fabrication tools for building prototype models.
Fatima Al Kuwari, Head of External Relations at Ashghal, reaffirmed the Authority’s ongoing support for Future Engineer program, recognizing the significance of directly connecting students with engineering work environments to gain early exposure to the profession.
Fatima Al Muhannadi, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Scientific Club, highlighted that the Future Engineer program aims to train and empower aspiring engineers by introducing them to various engineering disciplines aligned with labor market needs. Fatima also described the collaboration with Ashghal as a reflection of responsible social commitment toward the nation’s youth.
Ghanem Al Kaabi, Head of Training and Development at Ashghal, stressed the Authority’s dedication to helping high school students in choosing engineering disciplines that meet Qatar’s evolving labor market demands.
Khawla Al Maadid, Head of Public Relations and Communication at Qatar Scientific Club, emphasized the program and the Club’s role in preparing students to understand the responsibilities, planning, and discipline inherent in the engineering profession. Khawla also highlighted that the impact of engineering lasts for generations, shaping the infrastructure and landmarks that define national development.
The Future Engineer program will wrap up on July 23, with presentations of students’ final prototype models before a panel of expert judges. The winning teams of the engineering challenge will be honored with awards and certificates.
