Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world’s largest aluminum smelter on one site, has signed a two-year agreement with Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill Company (GARMCO), one of the largest downstream aluminum facilities in the region, to boost the technical capabilities of GARMCO’s Bahraini employees.
As per the this agreement, a select group of GARMCO technical staff will join Alba on part-time secondment, where they will gain hands-on, practical training at Alba’s world-class facilities as well as on-the-job exposure across its operations.
The partnership will equip them with essential skills in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, reinforcing their technical foundation and accelerating their career development at GARMCO.
The deal applies a ‘Bahrainis training Bahrainis’ approach, a testament to Alba’s commitment to nurturing local talent and advancing knowledge-sharing within the Kingdom. By leveraging Alba’s decades of expertise, this partnership ensures that Bahrainis remain at the forefront of innovation and technical excellence.
Ali Al Baqali, CEO of Alba, stated that knowledge-sharing is the foundation of progress. The CEO said that by opening Alba’s facilities and training GARMCO’s employees, the company is promoting a culture of learning that benefits the entire aluminum industry in Bahrain, demonstrating Bahrainis supporting Bahrainis for a stronger future.

He added that the collaboration with Alba provides GARMCO’s technical staff with valuable hands-on experience and enhances their technical skills, reflecting a shared commitment to developing a highly skilled, future-ready Bahraini workforce.
