Apple and YouTube pledge $100 million in funds for colored community

IBM, Amazon and Microsoft have halted the sale, usage of Facial Recognition solutions by authorities as it created an environment of discrimination and injustice towards the people of Color.

    Tech Gaints Apple Inc and Youtube will spend $100 million each for initiatives to support the community of color. While the iPhone maker will support its colored suppliers as part of its $100 million racial equity and justice initiative, Google-owned YouTube will spend $100 million to fund artists of color.

    Both efforts are part of a bigger set of initiatives by corporations, including banks and retailers, intending to express support for the community of color as recent demonstrations in the United States and elsewhere request consideration to longstanding bigotry against African Americans.

    Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook in a video posted to Twitter announced that the iPhone maker endeavors to improve minority representation among the firms it associates with.

    Other movements will include programs to encourage colored application developers and new steps to ensure diversity and inclusion within Apple.

    YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki stated in a blog post that the video service will contribute $100 million over multiple years on “amplifying and developing the voices of black creators and artists and their stories.”
