The First Arab Forum for Agricultural Statistical Data has concluded its activities in Doha after two days of discussions held on February 12-13, on the sidelines of the Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ 2026).

The Arab Forum for Agricultural Statistical Data, jointly organized by the Qatari Ministry of Municipality and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development of the League of Arab States, brought together high-level representatives from Arab ministries of agriculture, national statistical offices, regional and international organizations, the private sector, and leading experts and academics.

The forum issued key recommendations, including strengthening coordination between statistical agencies and ministries, adopting a unified Arab framework for data quality, linking administrative records with surveys, expanding the use of modern technologies, supporting digital transformation, and building national data production capacities.

Participants highlighted the role of statistical data in monitoring food security, measuring food loss and waste, integrating agricultural, health, and environmental data, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals, preparing regional reports, and fostering public-private partnerships for innovation and investment.

The Arab Forum for Agricultural Statistical Data emphasized the need for clear mechanisms to implement recommendations, regular convening as a platform for expertise exchange, and developing an integrated Arab agricultural statistical system to support food security and sustainable development.

Held amid challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, and food security pressures, the Arab Forum for Agricultural Statistical Data underlined that reliable, up-to-date agricultural data is vital for effective policy-making, investment guidance, and achieving the Arab Food Security Strategy.

Over two days, discussions focused on data production, analysis, dissemination, governance, technological integration, investment, and the role of statistics in food security and Sustainable Development Goals. Participants stressed unifying standards, enhancing Arab integration, and using modern technologies such as GIS, remote sensing, and digital tools to build a comprehensive Arab data system for informed decision-making.
