Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture branch in Aseer Region has met with an agricultural practices development initiative team to launch a project establishing seven specialized agricultural fields.

This project includes five open demonstration fields and two dedicated to precision agriculture, aiming to modernize farming techniques for fruits, vegetables, dates, and field crops.

According to the statement, the initiative seeks to enhance local farming practices and promote sustainable agriculture in the region.

Located in the southwestern part of Saudi Arabia, Aseer is known for its unique climate and topography, which are conducive to the cultivation of a variety of crops that are not typically found in other parts of the Kingdom. The region is well-positioned to become a leader in eco-friendly agriculture and a model for the rest of the Kingdom.

Managed by a seed and seedling center in Abha, the initiative aims to boost regional productivity and sustainability.

By introducing advanced farming techniques and rigorous monitoring, the project supports the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s broader strategy to modernize the agricultural sector and enhance food security in the region.

According to the reports, the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has invested in initiatives to support local farmers, offering training, financial assistance, and access to high-quality seeds and seedlings.

With initiatives like the establishment of specialized agricultural fields, Aseer’s agricultural productivity has been projected to rise and is expected to not only bolster food security but also offer clear support to the Kingdom’s wider aspirations for a more sustainable agriculture sector and economic diversification.
