Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Bahrain’s Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Economic Development Board (EDB), has reaffirmed that environmental investment and climate action are central pillars of Bahrain’s sustainable development agenda.
The minister made the remarks on the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, a day observed annually to raise global awareness about the vital role of mangrove ecosystems and the need to safeguard them from environmental degradation.
Al Khulaif reiterated Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to advancing initiatives that protect natural resources and support climate action, aligning with the Kingdom’s long-term sustainability goals.
The minister emphasised the importance of strengthening societal awareness of mangroves’ environmental value and increasing public participation in efforts to conserve marine ecosystems. She also called for expanding afforestation projects as part of a broader national strategy to enhance environmental resilience.
She further stressed that protecting coastal and marine ecosystems, including mangroves, constitutes a strategic priority in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), given their essential role in mitigating climate change, enhancing ecological stability, and supporting environmental security.
