The Kingdom of Bahrain and Russia have signed a mutual administrative customs cooperation agreement between the two governments.

The signing of the customs cooperation agreement took place during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, an annual Russian business event for the economic sector, which has been held in St. Petersburg since 1997.

The customs cooperation agreement was signed by Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Customs, and Tatiana Merkushova. Deputy Head of Federal Customs Service of Russia.

Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad highlighted the significance of the agreement as a strategic move to enhance and modernize customs operations. He noted that it aligns with Bahrain Customs’ 2024–2027 strategic plan and reflects broader international efforts to strengthen cross-border partnerships.

The agreement is designed to deepen cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Russia’s customs authorities through the exchange of information and technical expertise. It aims to facilitate trade, streamline customs procedures, and bolster border security and anti-smuggling measures, particularly in light of the growing pressures on global supply chains.

This step supports the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance international relations and improve the business and investment environment through knowledge-sharing and more efficient customs operations.

SPIEF offers an unrivaled space for dialogue and forging business ties. It provides an opportunity to find partners with the aim of securing business growth in Russia and abroad. Participants are also afforded the ability to expand their circle of customers and suppliers, and to meet key decision-makers. There are also ample opportunities to attract the attention of potential investors and leading media outlets.
