Bahrain Ministry ofForeign Affairs has taken part in a discussion session held by the Heritage Foundation at its headquarters in Washington, exploring the long-standing strategic partnership between Bahrain and the US across various sectors such as economic, trade, defense, and development fields.
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in discussion that focused on enhancing the cooperation between the two countries to advance shared interests and goals. The session was attended by Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the US.
The session exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East region, particularly the ongoing conflicts and how they affect regional stability and global peace and security. Additionally, it reviewed regional and international efforts to ease tensions, promote coexistence and tolerance, and support peace, stability, and prosperity across the region.
The minister also highlighted about the Arab Summit held in Bahrain in May 2024. The key outcomes and initiatives of the summit underscore the Arab leaders’ commitment to driving peace, stability, development, and joint cooperation for the benefit of all peoples in the region. The minister stressed about the assistance provided for health and education services to populations affected by conflicts.
Dr. Al Zayani underscored the significance of concerted international efforts to ease conflicts in the Middle East region in order to preserve international peace, security, and stability. The minister noted that the Palestinian cause remains the key issue of the conflict in the region and requires a lasting solution.
Furthermore, the minister also called for an immediate end to the war in the Gaza Strip, a commitment to a ceasefire, the swift release of hostages and detainees, and the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the hardship faced by civilians.
