His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has reaffirmed the strength of the longstanding Bahrain-UK strategic partnership.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad met with His Excellency Alastair Long, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, at Riffa Palace.

Bahrain and the United Kingdom have a longstanding strategic partnership encompassing various domains, including defense, security, trade, and investment.

His Royal Highness underscored the importance of deepening bilateral ties to achieve shared aspirations and deliver mutual benefits for the people of both Kingdoms.

Discussions also covered avenues for expanding cooperation, key regional and international developments, and other matters of mutual interest.

Bahrain positions itself as the UK’s gateway to the Gulf, leveraging its strategic location, business-friendly environment, and historical ties to attract investors. The country emphasizes sectors such as financial services, manufacturing, and technology to bolster economic collaboration.

In October 2022, the UK and Bahrain signed a Strategic Investment and Partnership Agreement, marking a significant step toward enhancing economic collaboration. This agreement focuses on strengthening trade ties and fostering cooperation across multiple sectors, including financial services, manufacturing, and technology. The two countries aim to support investment flows and innovation in each other’s markets.

The UK is one of Bahrain’s major trading partners, and both nations have sought to expand trade in goods and services. Key export categories from Bahrain to the UK include petroleum products, chemicals, and metals, while the UK exports machinery, equipment, and chemicals to Bahrain.

The trade relationship is also boosted by Bahrain’s free trade agreements within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which provide an advantageous trading environment.
