The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the British University of Bahrain (BUB) to support the national innovation ecosystem and develop young national talent in space sciences and applications.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Mohammed Al Aseeri, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Space Agency, and Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, President of the British University of Bahrain.
Under the agreement, the Bahrain Space Agency will collaborate on knowledge and expertise exchange, joint scientific research and technical studies, alongside specialised training, workshops and awareness programmes aimed at enhancing students’ academic and practical capabilities.
The MoU further provides for joint community outreach initiatives and educational field visits, enabling students to gain firsthand insight into the space sector while bridging academic study with practical application.
Dr. Mohammed Al Aseeri, CEO of Bahrain Space Agency, said that the partnership reflects the Bahrain Space Agency’s commitment to building national capabilities in space sciences and applications and to strengthening cooperation with academic institutions. He expressed hope that the collaboration would expand to include joint space-related initiatives that support innovation and encourage entrepreneurship among Bahraini youth.
Dr. Janahi, President of BUB, stated that the agreement would support students’ interest in space sciences, describing the field as important for academic and professional development. He noted that the MoU aims to provide valuable training opportunities and enhance students’ readiness in space-related and associated scientific disciplines.
The partnership aligns with the Bahrain Space Agency’s efforts to strengthen ties with academic institutions, encourage youth participation in science, and support emerging sectors under Bahrain’s vision for a knowledge-based, technologically advanced economy.
