The Kingdom of Bahrain and the US have engaged in diplomatic talks for bilateral growth, highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding strategic partnership with the US.
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States, discussed ways to expand the cooperation across various fields. Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the US, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Zayani congratulated Secretary Rubio on his appointment and wished him success. The minister also highlighted the importance of agreements like Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) in enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
Dr. Al Zayani praised the approach of the US administration under Donald Trump, President of the US, in supporting efforts to drive global peace and addressing conflicts. The role of the US in achieving Gaza ceasefire and securing the release of several hostages and detainees, as well as its efforts to end the war in Ukraine were also highlighted.
The minister emphasized the Kingdom’s strong support for efforts that contribute to advancing global peace and security.
Secretary Rubio stressed the US’s commitment to strengthening the historical bilateral relations at all levels and the importance of intensified cooperation, coordination, and consultation to meet the interests of both countries and people.
Marco Rubio also underscored the need to enhance joint efforts to maintain regional security and stability and to advance economic and trade cooperation.
The meeting explored political, economic, security, and development relations between the two countries and focused on ways to bolster bilateral cooperation to broader levels that serve both countries’ shared interests.
Furthermore, the discussions addressed regional and international issues of common interest, including the latest developments in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, and their impact on regional security, stability, and humanitarian conditions.
The meeting was also attended by Talal Abdulsalam Al Ansari, Director General of Foreign Ministry Affairs, and Saeed Abdul Khaliq Saeed, Director of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector.
