His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during his official visit to Japan, has witnessed the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to enhance cooperation in the space sector.

The MoU was signed on the Bahraini side by His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on the Japanese side by His Excellency Hiroshi Yamakawa, President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), underscoring the high-level commitment from both nations to advance collaboration in the space sector.

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Space Agency, emphasized the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strong commitment to advancing its space sector by building national capabilities in this promising field.

The CEO highlighted the agency’s strategic focus on fostering partnerships with leading international space organizations, such as the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), to benefit from their expertise and collaborate on cutting-edge research, development, and technology transfer initiatives.

He noted that the MoU with JAXA will expand bilateral cooperation to include research and development, exchange of expertise, training, and joint projects, while promoting scientific and technical collaboration in peaceful space exploration. It will also support the growth of the space industry and enhance capacity building, education, and outreach efforts.

Furthermore, the agreement encompasses additional relevant areas that are essential for the sustainable development and long-term advancement of the space sector, ensuring that both nations contribute effectively to building a resilient, innovative, and forward-looking space industry.
