Users across the globe have reported widespread disruptions affecting Cloudflare’s services, triggering a surge of frustration and complaints among netizens as websites and online platforms experienced slowdowns and outages.

As part of the outage, a number of websites, including Canva, BookMyShow, LinkedIn, Notion, Groww, SpaceX, Zerodha and Coinbase have experienced issues. Websites and online platforms worldwide has gone down, returning a ‘500 Internal Server Error‘ message.

Status and Causes: Cloudflare replies..

Addressing the issue, Cloudflare’s System Status Page was updated to say that the company has begun investigating issues with ‘Cloudflare Dashboard and related APIs‘.

The company had issued a statement stating that it has fixed an issue with its dashboard related Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The outage had sent shares down 4.5 percent in premarket trading.

In its status page update, the internet infrastructure company has blamed the incident on an emergency patch designed to address a critical remote code execution vulnerability in React Server Components, which is now actively exploited in attacks.

The vulnerability was found in the React Server Components (RSC) ‘Flight‘ protocol, and this allows unauthenticated attackers to gain remote code execution in React and Next.js applications by sending maliciously crafted HTTP requests to React Server Function endpoints.

This was the second outage in nearly a month. The last outage, which happened on November 18, had witnessed many AI platforms also becoming inaccessible. Cloudflare has also fixed another massive outage in June, which caused Access authentication failures and Zero Trust WARP connectivity issues across multiple regions, and also impacted Google Cloud’s infrastructure.

What is Cloudflare?

Cloudflare provides essential internet infrastructure, offering protection against cyberattacks and ensuring websites remain accessible during heavy traffic.

Acting as a middle layer between users and online services, Cloudflare supports countless companies worldwide. As a result, even a single issue within its network can trigger widespread outages and cause multiple, unrelated websites to go down simultaneously.
