The Heritage Commission has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cruise Saudi, a company fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), to strengthen collaboration in promoting Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage tourism.

The partnership aims to integrate the kingdom’s rich heritage into cruise itineraries, as well as incorporate traditional heritage designs into ship interiors and port facilities, further enhancing the country’s appeal as a global cruise destination.

Furthermore, this initiative aims to bolster the Kingdom’s position as a global tourism destination with a rich cultural identity.

Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage tourism is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of the country’s broader tourism strategy, particularly as the kingdom looks to diversify its economy and develop its tourism sector under its Vision 2030 initiative.

The country, with its rich history and deep cultural roots, is positioning itself as a top destination for heritage tourism, offering visitors a unique blend of ancient history, vibrant traditions, and modern developments.

Saudi Cruise and Heritage Commission Partnership

According to the statement, the Saudi Cruise and Heritage Commission collaboration includes integrating cultural heritage sites into cruise itineraries, activating intangible cultural heritage elements onboard the Aroya Cruises, and organizing exhibitions to showcase Saudi culture. Additionally, it will provide visual materials on cultural heritage sites and facilitate exploratory programs and diving visits to underwater heritage sites, per approved regulations.

The MoU also addresses incorporating heritage designs into cruise facilities and passenger terminals, naming itineraries after elements of national heritage, and using heritage sites for special events to welcome cruise guests.

This Saudi Cruise and Heritage Commission agreement advances the commission’s efforts to promote national heritage through maritime tourism and partnerships with public and private sectors, reinforcing the Kingdom’s status as a leading cultural and tourist destination.
