HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has held talks with Almaz Tasbolat, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation.

The meeting focused on strengthening ties, especially in the fields of renewable energy, water sustainability, smart infrastructure and technological innovation. Both parties explored potential investment opportunities and knowledge exchange, aligned with the broader framework of Kazakh-UAE economic collaboration.

The DEWA Chief underscored the importance of joint and fruitful co-operation between DEWA and key institutions in Kazakhstan. He highlighted DEWA’s ongoing projects and initiatives, particularly comprehensive programs aimed at diversifying the energy mix.

Central to this vision are renewable and clean energy projects that support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to provide 100 percent of the emirate’s energy production capacity from clean sources by 2050.

Al Tayer stated that DEWA’s approach combines sustainability, smart infrastructure and technological innovation to create a resilient and efficient utility system. Al Tayer reaffirmed that DEWA is committed to creating an environment that encourages innovation and co-operation to achieve strategic objectives and help combat climate change worldwide.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, set to be the world’s largest single-site solar park, has acheived a production capacity of 3,860MW. Its total capacity is now expected to exceed 8,000MW by the year 2030, significantly above the original target of 5,000MW. Clean energy currently makes up more than 21.5 percent of total generating capacity of DEWA and is projected to reach 36 percent by 2030, compared with the initial plan of 25%, helping reduce over 8.5 million tons of carbon emissions each year.

Al Tayer emphasized DEWA’s global leadership, stating its first-place ranking worldwide in 12 key performance indicators, surpassing many top European and American utilities. He stressed that for more than three decades, DEWA has led pioneering innovations in the energy and water sectors, driven by a clear vision for a sustainable future.

Al Tayer added that DEWA is eager to share its expertise and explore joint initiatives with Kazakhstan, a country with significant renewable energy potential. Tasbolat welcomed the presentation and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening its broad partnership with DEWA.
