DP World has announced the development of a state-of-the-art cold storage facility with an investment of $29 million (approximately EGP 1.42 billion).

The cold storage facility development follows DP World’s acquisition of land in Elsewedy Industrial Development Park, within Al Oula Industrial City, at a time of rising local and global demand for modern, energy-efficient storage solutions, especially in agri-exports and frozen food manufacturing.

Covering 16,194 sqm, the cold storage facility will feature eight independently controlled chambers with capacity for 25,000 pallet positions across chilled and frozen categories, including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and chilled and frozen foods. It will be equipped with an advanced refrigeration system to ensure energy efficiency and precise climate control, meeting the highest international standards.

“This facility represents a significant milestone in our journey to help strengthen Egypt’s logistics and trade ecosystem. By introducing world-class cold chain capabilities, we are enabling exporters and manufacturers to expand their reach, improve efficiency, and capture new opportunities. Together with our Sokhna Logistics Park, which is expected to be operational soon, we are creating an integrated network that will unlock growth and reinforce Egypt’s position as a vital hub for global trade.”

Owned and operated by DP World, the facility will have a fully integrated Warehouse Management System, providing real-time inventory visibility and seamless connectivity with client platforms.

Its location offers direct access to Greater Cairo, national highways, and major export corridors, positioning it ideally to serve both domestic distribution and international shipping. The project will strengthen Egypt’s cold chain, protect food quality, reduce waste, and help exporters and manufacturers compete more effectively in global markets.

Building on investments in the Port of Ain Sokhna, the development of the Sokhna Logistics Park, and third-party contract logistics, this project further reflects DP World’s commitment to strengthening Egypt’s logistics sector, supporting the national economy, improving and accelerating food supply chain resilience, and creating new growth opportunities for local industries.
