Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has activated the e-scooter riding permit application service across all official channels, following its earlier availability exclusively through the RTA website.
The e-scooter riding permit service has now been integrated into the RTA Dubai and Dubai Now apps, removing the need for in-person visits to service centers.
This move aligns with RTA’s ongoing efforts to support Dubai’s vision of becoming the world’s smartest city, accelerate digital transformation, and improve service accessibility, ultimately saving time and effort for customers.
Applying for an e-scooter riding permit through the RTA app is now a simple, user-friendly process. Applicants must complete an online theoretical test covering key e-scooter rules, safety guidelines, and riding practices. After successfully passing the test, users will be authorized to ride e-scooters in designated areas, with the e-scooter riding permit issued electronically through RTA’s smart channels.
This service is part of a larger initiative aimed at regulating e-scooter usage, promoting road safety, and protecting all road users. The e-scooter permit application remains available on the RTA’s official website, offering customers multiple ways to access the service based on their preferences.
RTA urges users who do not meet the exemption criteria to secure the required permit before riding e-scooters in authorized areas and to adhere to all relevant laws and safety regulations to ensure public safety.
