H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, has unveiled the ‘Media Leadership Programme’, aimed at enhancing the emirate’s media sector.
This comes as part of Dubai Media Council’s comprehensive strategy. The program is designed to elevate Dubai’s global media profile by cultivating leaders who can craft innovative, impactful and compelling narratives that communicate the emirate’s notable achievements and ambitious development agenda to audiences around the world.
The initiative falls in line with with Dubai’s commitment to driving comprehensive and sustainable growth. The program will provide participants with cutting-edge skills to build results-driven teams and establish media strategies that effectively communicate Dubai’s key role in driving innovations across multiple sectors.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed reaffirmed Dubai’s commitment to enhancing the media sector, also highlighted the significance of cultivating partnerships with major global institutions and academic organizations to harness their expertise to achieve Dubai’s vision and strategic goals for the media sector.
Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, also reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to elevating Dubai’s media sector through innovative programs and initiatives. The support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, was also mentioned.
Al Marri stressed that His Highness’s focus on competitiveness as a key principle is driving Dubai towards new levels of excellence, and the importance of ensuring Dubai’s media message remains impactful and in line with the emirate’s strategic priorities.
The first cohort of the program includes communication professionals from Dubai’s government entities. The initiative aims to sharpen their leadership skills and professional expertise in strategic government communication, while equipping them to engage effectively with both Arab and international media.
Ultimately, the Media Leadership Programme strives to reinforce Dubai’s position as a pioneer in media sector while supporting the efforts of its government institutions.
The program’s sessions will explore topics aligned with Dubai’s rapid growth as a city of the future, while highlighting its economic and social objectives. The first session will cover government communication, emphasizing the latest global advancements and best practices. Participants will be equipped with the expertise to lead government communication efforts with impact and precision.
Nehal Badri, Secretary-General of the Dubai Media Council, commented that, “The first session of the Media Leadership Programme will bring together 24 participants representing 20 government and semi-government entities in Dubai. The program features specialized sessions aimed at enhancing strategic thinking and leadership capabilities in government communication. These sessions will blend lectures, practical training, and insights from global experts. The program will include international visits to study best practices in the field.”
The program, held in collaboration with leading universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), George Washington University, Columbia University, and other leading academic institutions, provides participants with a unique opportunity to learn from global best practices. Visits to countries with excellent performance in the media field will elevate the learning experience to new heights. Participants will also receive certifications from top global universities.
The nine-month inaugural session of the program strives to refine the skills of leadership teams in government communication, ensuring they have the competencies to provide accurate, timely information about Dubai’s government remarkable initiatives as well as achievements.
By showcasing Dubai’s accomplishments across multiple sectors, the Media Leadership Programme aims to reinforce the emirate’s status as a global hub for business, sustainability, and innovation.
