Emirates has advised all customers to prepare for a significant travel peak during the first week of January, with exceptionally high numbers of departures and arrivals expected across its network from 2 to 5 January.
The airline strongly recommends that customers arrive to the airport 4 hours ahead of departure, preparing for the likelihood of additional traffic on the way to the airport, busier carparks, and a bustling airport.
Emirates recommendations for busy travel week
1. Utilize remote check in options
City Check In and Travel Store in DIFC: Passengers can save time by checking in and dropping off luggage at the Emirates City Check In and Travel Store at ICD Brookfield Place, DIFC. The facility offers free parking and allows check-in from 24 hours up to 4 hours before departure. Customers using this service until 15 January will receive 2,500 Emirates Skywards Miles. The center operates daily from 8:00 AM to midnight until 15 January.
City Check In Ajman: Passengers may also check in at the 24-hour Emirates City Check In facility at Ajman Central Bus Terminal, available from 24 hours to 4 hours before flight departure.

2. Book Emirates’ Home Check In services in Dubai and Sharjah
Emirates customers can also choose the Home Check-In service in Dubai and Sharjah, allowing agents to complete check-in at the customer’s home, hotel, or office and collect baggage for the flight. The service must be booked at least 24 hours in advance, with early booking recommended due to high demand, and is complimentary for First Class customers and Platinum Skywards members.
3. Use public transport options to and from the airport
Dubai Metro offers a fast and convenient connection to Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport via the Red Line, providing a reliable alternative to road travel during peak traffic periods.
Trains operate frequently from early morning until late at night, with direct access from the Airport Terminal 3 station to the terminal through walkways and escalators, allowing passengers to easily reach check-in, departures, and arrivals, or travel home after their flight.
4. Arrive to Dubai International Airport (DXB) 4 hours before your flight departure.
Emirates recommends arriving at the airport at least four hours before the scheduled departure to allow sufficient time for check-in, baggage drop, and immigration formalities, and to reach the boarding gate at least one hour before departure. The airline also encourages passengers to preselect their seats and ensure all travel documents are valid before arriving at the airport.
