The Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA) has reaffirmed its strategic partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) during its participation in the 66th session of WIPO’s General Assembly.

Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Excellence and Pioneering Affairs at Dubai Police and Chairman of EIPA, stated that collaboration with WIPO remains a cornerstone in building effective intellectual property (IP) protection systems.

The assembly is currently underway at the organization’s headquarters in Geneva. The high-level session, running until 17th July, has convened official delegations and international organizations to discuss global IP strategies and initiatives.

Major General Al Obaidly highlighted the association’s active cooperation with the WIPO Academy through several programs aimed at capacity building. These include a ‘Training of Trainers’ initiative to develop experts who can promote IP awareness, and a nationwide program to equip law enforcement officers with the skills needed to combat IP infringements.

The Major also announced that the EIPA will host a series of key conferences later this year. These include the Second Gulf Conference in October in partnership with the Bahrain Intellectual Property Association, the Fourth Arab Conference in September at the University of Sharjah with the Arab Administrative Development Organization, and the 14th International Conference in November in collaboration with INTERPOL.

Reaffirming the association’s international focus, Major General Al Obaidly stressed EIPA’s commitment to expanding global cooperation and strengthening IP enforcement frameworks.

The EIPA delegation will also engage in several bilateral meetings during the assembly, including with the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Arab Intellectual Property Bureau, and the WIPO Academy, as well as broader dialogues with international stakeholders and NGOs.
