General Court of Audit (GCA) President Dr. Hussam Alangari has participated in the sixth meeting of the IIA Board of Directors’ 40th session held in Canada.
The meeting gathered global board members to review the Institute’s major activities for the first and second quarters of 2025. The GCA President was accompanied by Chairman of the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors (SAIA), and board member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Discussions covered key agenda items and concluded with the adoption of several recommendations and strategic decisions. The IIA board reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the internal audit profession by developing global professional standards and promoting awareness of the essential role internal auditing plays across sectors.
The IIA board highlighted the importance of aligning with ongoing scientific and technical advancements to ensure the profession remains relevant and effective. Members also focused on shaping future strategies that aim to enhance professional development opportunities for auditors, encourage innovation, and support the continuous improvement of auditing practices worldwide.
During the meeting, IIA board members extended congratulations to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by SAIA, for securing the bid to host the 2027 IIA International Conference. They praised the Kingdom’s achievement, stating it reflects sustained efforts to elevate its global presence in the field of internal auditing.
They further noted that Saudi Arabia’s successful bid marks a milestone in strengthening its leadership in developing the profession both regionally and globally, positioning it as a key contributor to the future of internal auditing.
