HE Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Ignazio Cassis, Foreign Minister of the Swiss Confederation, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to establish a strategic dialogue between the GCC and Switzerland.

The signing took place in Davos, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 56th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, which brings together global leaders to discuss key economic, political, and strategic issues.

This MoU aligns with the efforts of both the GCC and Switzerland to further strengthen their close bilateral relations and reflects a shared commitment to advancing their strategic partnership across all levels, including political, economic, and diplomatic cooperation.

The GCC Secretary General emphasized that the signing of this MoU represents a significant milestone in enhancing cooperation and partnership between the GCC and Switzerland. He noted that it opens broader horizons for coordination and consultation across various fields of mutual interest, contributing to greater mutual understanding and long-term collaboration.

Following the signing ceremony, a bilateral meeting was held between HE Albudaiwi and the Swiss Foreign Minister. The discussions focused on exploring new avenues for strengthening relations, deepening cooperation, and exchanging views on regional and international issues of common concern, as well as developments impacting global stability and prosperity.
