Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has secured the “Smart City Initiative Award 2025” for its MyGov mobile app, which enables users to access the services provided by various government and private entities through a unified platform.
The award was announced during the opening ceremony of the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2025, held under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister. The event runs under the theme “Building the Future: Smart Cities, Sustainable Growth”.
Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), thanked for the recognition, highlighting that the award reflects the strong support and attention given by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, towards digital transformation efforts and the adoption of modern technologies.
The Chief Executive also stressed that the MyGov app, introduced in the first quarter of 2025 under the directives of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, stands out as one of the most prominent strategic digital initiatives implemented in response to public suggestions submitted to the Authority.
Al Qaed underscored the significance of the application, which provides users with a unified access to a diverse array of government services through the enhanced eKey 2.0 system. The ongoing support of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology, were also highlighted.
As part of the summit, Lulwa Sami, Director of Communications & Marketing at the iGA, took part in a panel discussion titled “Smart City Hot Seat: Live Expert Panel on Urban Innovation.” During the session, Lulwa showcased the Authority’s digital projects that have supported urban innovation, including the National Portal (bahrain.bh) and mobile apps such as Sehati app and MyGov app.
The Director also highlighted the use of open data to drive the development of more tailored eServices to cater to the evolving needs of public. Furthermore, Lulwa Sami emphasized the Authority’s commitment to strategic communication and active public engagement.
iGA is also part of at the Smart Cities 2025 exhibition, spotlighting its latest services and applications, including the MyGov app, eKey 2.0, new features on bahrain.bh, and new services launched through the Benayat system.
