Nine investment contracts has been signed to support coffee, almond, fruit, and poultry production in Al-Baha Region, witnessed by the Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley and Governor Prince Dr. Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz at the ministry headquarters in Riyadh.
The investment contracts, designed to support agricultural development and enhance the production of coffee, almonds, fruits, and poultry while strengthening partnerships with the private sector in line with Vision 2030, include four contracts to establish coffee cities in Baljurashi Governorate on areas exceeding 1.9 million square meters. These cities will feature the planting of more than 69,500 Arabica coffee trees.
Another contract covers the establishment of an almond city in Al-Mandaq Governorate on an area of one million square meters, with 50,000 almond trees and other fruit trees suitable for the designated crop mix.
The signings also include two contracts for poultry production projects on more than 34 million square meters, a contract to establish a coffee city in Qilwah Governorate on an area of 2.29 million square meters to plant 750,000 Arabica coffee trees, and a contract to establish a fruit nursery in Qilwah covering over 33,000 square meters with a production capacity of 334,000 fruit seedlings.
Al-Baha Governor Prince Dr. Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz stressed that the signing of these investment projects reflects the support of the wise leadership for initiatives that enhance development, stimulate investment, and contribute to achieving the goals of Vision 2030. He noted that the projects will have a major impact on advancing development in Al-Baha Region, which is witnessing robust growth driven by its natural and investment potential.
The Al-Baha Governor added that establishing five new coffee cities in the region, in addition to the existing coffee city in Mashuqa, the largest of its kind in the Kingdom, constitutes a qualitative addition that will boost investment opportunities and increase coffee production due to its high economic value. He also highlighted the establishment of an almond city, noting that these contracts will support agricultural production, boost the local economy, create job opportunities for farmers, and promote eco-tourism in the region.
