Oman has launched its first overseas labor office in Doha, Qatar, marking a key milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation in employment and human resource development.

The initiative is led by Oman’s Ministry of Labor and supports national efforts to expand job prospects for skilled Omanis in advanced Gulf labor markets.

The new overseas labor office was inaugurated in the presence of Khalid bin Salem Al Ghammari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Labor for Labor Affairs (Oman), and Shaikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Labor (Qatar). It reflects both countries’ commitment to building sustainable employment partnerships and offering young Omanis the chance to compete in dynamic regional job markets.

“This joint initiative is a significant step in Gulf labor integration. It reinforces our vision that national talent development extends beyond borders and into regional platforms that reward innovation and professionalism,” said Al Ghammari.

Established through a Memorandum of Understanding between Oman and Qatar, the overseas labor office will act as an institutional link to facilitate employment opportunities, offer labor market insights, and support Omani nationals currently working or seeking jobs in Qatar.

Ambassador of Oman to Qatar, Sayyid Ammar bin Abdullah Al Busaidi, hailed the move as a bold and forward-looking step that aligns with Oman’s national vision.

“This is not just an administrative measure, it’s a powerful signal of our commitment to empowering Omani youth. It opens the door to a market rich with opportunities for growth, innovation, and excellence,” Al Busaidi remarked.

In its official statement, the Ministry of Labor confirmed that the opening of the new overseas labor office is part of a wider strategy to expand Oman’s presence in Gulf labor markets. It is aimed at creating impactful partnerships that benefit both nations through job creation, skills development, and knowledge exchange.

The initiative is set to open doors for future collaborative programs, supporting national objectives around economic diversification and human capital development in line with Oman Vision 2040.
