PureHealth has signed a 25-year master lease agreement with Yellow Door Energy (YDE) to deploy on-site solar power plants across its network of hospitals and clinics in the UAE.

The solar installations are expected to generate approximately 23.5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by around 7,200 metric tons each year.

Advancing sustainable healthcare infrastructure

Under the master lease agreement, Yellow Door Energy will finance, design, construct, commission, operate, and maintain the solar power plants across PureHealth’s healthcare assets in the UAE.

The leasing model enables PureHealth to adopt renewable energy solutions without upfront capital expenditure, aligning sustainability objectives with long-term asset planning.

“This partnership sets a new benchmark for sustainable healthcare. By combining resilient infrastructure with reliable clean power, we are enhancing operational efficiency across our hospitals and clinics. As we work toward our Net Zero by 2040 ambition, this project is central to our Smart Facilities and Operations strategy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and advancing more resilient energy systems.”

Supporting National Climate Goals

Steel and cement industries often dominate decarbonization discussions, but healthcare infrastructure also represents a significant energy consumer.

Integrating on-site solar generation strengthens energy resilience while contributing to national sustainability targets.

Jeremy Crane, Group CEO of Yellow Door Energy, emphasized that, “Healthcare plays a critical role in societal well-being. Powering these essential facilities with clean energy supports both environmental sustainability and long-term operational resilience. With over 1.1 terawatt-hours of clean electricity generated from our operating projects, Yellow Door Energy brings the expertise required to deliver multi-site renewable solutions under master lease structures.”

The initiative aligns with PureHealth’s Net Zero by 2040 commitment and contributes to the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategy. It also reflects the broader shift toward integrating sustainability, energy efficiency, and digital transformation within healthcare systems.
