Qatar and Saudi Arabia have convened the third meeting of the Economy, Trade, and Industry Working Group under the framework of the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing bilateral economic integration and strengthening joint strategic priorities.
The meeting was co-chaired by HE Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki, Undersecretary at Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Eng. Rakan bin Waddah Tarabzouni, Undersecretary for International Economic Affairs at the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning. Officials from both sides participated in the discussions.
Reviewing 2025 progress and 2026 targets
Participants reviewed a summary of the committee’s work during 2025, including progress made in implementing directives and decisions issued during the eighth leadership-level meeting of the Council.
The session also outlined the committee’s strategic targets for 2026, with a focus on accelerating joint initiatives and enhancing institutional coordination.
The working group examined mechanisms to facilitate import and export procedures, streamline trade flows, and strengthen supply chain integration between the two countries. Enhancing cross-border commercial activity remains a central pillar of bilateral economic cooperation.
The discussions also covered updates on ongoing initiatives, key operational challenges, and proposed solutions aimed at removing bottlenecks and improving efficiency. Both sides emphasized the importance of structured follow-up mechanisms to ensure timely execution of agreed objectives.
Officials further reviewed the committee’s broader strategic goals, underscoring the need to consolidate economic integration and expand cooperation in trade and industry in alignment with the national economic visions of the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting reflects continued momentum in bilateral economic relations, reinforcing efforts to strengthen private sector engagement, promote sustainable growth, and enhance regional competitiveness through coordinated policy action.
