Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development during its active participation at the 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

QFFD’s delegation, led by Director-General Fahad bin Hamad Al Sulaiti, highlighted the importance of addressing the needs of vulnerable communities through innovative financing, strengthened local systems, and impactful interventions in fragile and underserved areas.

The HLPF acts as a central platform for assessing progress on the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It gathered global leaders, civil society organizations, and development institutions to collectively accelerate sustainable development efforts.

During a key Townhall session titled ‘Unlocking Means of Implementation: Mobilizing Financing and STI for the SDGs’, Al Sulaiti emphasized the importance of expanding access to inclusive financing mechanisms. He further underscored the need for investments in local capacity-building as essential for achieving the SDGs and fostering long-term resilience in developing nations.

Reinforcing its people-centered approach, QFFD co-organized the side event ‘On the Road to Doha: From HLPF 2025 to the Second World Summit for Social Development’. The session, opened by Al Sulaiti alongside senior UN officials and global development leaders, focused on the role of social development in achieving sustainable and equitable outcomes. The event also contributed to shaping the agenda for the Second World Summit for Social Development, set to be hosted by Qatar.

Throughout the HLPF, QFFD took part in a variety of side events addressing key themes such as youth employment, climate action, economic development, and innovative financing. The QFFD’s active engagement reflected its role as a cross-sectoral solutions provider and a contributor to global dialogue on development acceleration.

On the sidelines of the forum, Al Sulaiti held high-level meetings with key international figures including Executive Secretary of ESCWA Rola Dashti, IOM Director-General Amy Pope, Finland’s Minister of Social Security Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, and UN High Representative for Least Developed Countries Rabab Fatima.

These discussions focused on deepening cooperation across energy, social welfare, migration resilience, economic empowerment, and support for least developed countries, areas at the core of QFFD’s mission to create long-lasting impact and equitable global progress.
