Saudi Arabia and the European Union (EU) have held discussions to enhance cooperation and bolster the Kingdom’s role as a key partner in promoting economic security and integrating global supply chains.

The meetings focused on ensuring the smooth flow of international trade and securing the supply of critical minerals worldwide, emphasizing the importance of strengthened collaboration between the two sides.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef held two bilateral meetings at the headquarters of the European Union (EU) in Brussels with European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica and European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič, as part of the minister’s current official visit to the Kingdom of Belgium.

During his meeting with the European commissioner for the Mediterranean, the minister explored ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and broaden the horizons of partnership between Saudi Arabia and the EU, affirming the Kingdom’s support for regional and global economic security and its commitment to enhancing coordination on issues of mutual interest, thereby reinforcing economic stability and resilience amid global changes and transformations.

In his meeting with the European commissioner for trade and economic security, the minister discussed prospects for trade, strengthening global supply chain security, securing supplies of critical minerals, exploring opportunities to integrate industrial value chains between the Kingdom and European Union countries, and expanding joint investments in priority sectors.

According to the statement, the two meetings fall within the framework of the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources’ visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, which aims to exchange expertise, enhance cooperation with European countries in advanced industries, and attract high-quality investments to the Kingdom in support of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
