Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has announced the establishment of a new non-profit mining association aimed at advancing the Kingdom’s mining sector.
The non-profit mining association will focus on providing an integrated training environment to develop the skills of professionals in the mining sector, enhance the quality of technical operations, and promote regulatory sustainability in the industry.
According to the statement, the initiative also aims to ensure the adoption of the highest standards of governance and transparency, in line with the ministry’s efforts to empower non-profit organizations in the industrial and mining sectors and recognize their role in supporting the Kingdom’s economic and social development.
The newly established association will pursue a broad range of strategic objectives aimed at advancing Saudi Arabia’s mining sector. These include building and developing knowledge and technical capacities within the industry, designing specialized education and training programs tailored to current and future needs, and establishing a professional code of ethics to guide the conduct of geological and mining practitioners.
Additionally, the Saudi non-profit mining association will organize awareness campaigns and workshops to promote best practices, support the production of in-depth research and industry studies, and actively participate in both local and international conferences to foster global collaboration and knowledge exchange in the mining field.
It also seeks to contribute to updating reporting and disclosure standards on mineral resources and reserves, granting professional competency certifications in geology and mining to its members, and enabling them to acquire the skills required to assess mineral wealth.
The association aspires to become a national platform bringing together expertise in mining and geology, elevating mining professions to the highest international standards, advancing a comprehensive regulatory and professional environment, improving the efficiency of resource and reserve assessment, and boosting transparency in technical practices.
