Saudi Arabia and Egypt have formalized a new partnership through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on road expertise exchange.
The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the 6th Smart Transport, Infrastructure, Logistics, and Traffic for the Middle East and Africa (TransMEA ’25) conference, aims to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between the two nations in the development of smart transport and infrastructure solutions.
The move marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties and advancing the region’s transportation capabilities.
According to the statement, the agreement links Egypt’s Ministry of Transport, represented by the National Institute of Transport, with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services, represented by the Roads General Authority. It aims to foster cooperation in road planning, development, research, and technical training.
Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir said that the partnership reflects the two countries’ longstanding ties and commitment to opening new channels of cooperation amid regional challenges. “Egypt and Saudi Arabia… always together,” El-Wazir added.
The MoU is expected to significantly enhance knowledge exchange between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, while also fostering the development of human resources in the road infrastructure sector. It aims to promote collaborative scientific research and innovative solutions, creating opportunities for both countries to embark on joint infrastructure projects.
Additionally, the agreement will provide valuable platforms for professional skill development, offering specialized training and development programs to experts and engineers in both nations, thereby strengthening their technical capabilities in road infrastructure and smart transportation systems.
