Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan and Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary has witnessed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministries of Education and Media to launch the Media Scholarship Initiative.

The Media Scholarship Initiative aims at training Saudi talent through placement in leading global media companies and renowned educational institutions. The program will commence with the launch of the ‘Wa’ed’ track for the media sector, as part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program, which focuses on providing specialized scholarships directly linked to future employment opportunities within the media industry.

The program will offer comprehensive training and academic degrees, including diploma, bachelor’s, and master’s qualifications, in a range of high-demand media specializations. These include digital media, artificial intelligence in media, content production, augmented and virtual reality, and digital journalism.

Training and academic programs included in the Media Scholarship Initiative will be delivered across 15 countries, in cooperation with the private sector and select international institutions.

To ensure alignment with market needs, the Ministries organized a dedicated workshop as part of the Media Scholarship Initiative, that brought together representatives from more than 35 private sector entities to discuss and contribute to the implementation its strategy.

Following the workshop, a detailed needs assessment will be conducted and finalized. Upon completion, relevant programs will be approved, and the official opening of applications for scholarship seats is expected to be announced within the next 60 days.

This collaboration between the ministries demonstrate their joint commitment to advancing the national media sector by building a skilled, future-ready workforce. It also reflects their shared vision of developing local talent to meet evolving global media standards, in full alignment with the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in the areas of education, innovation, and industry development.
