The United Arab Emirates has reinforced its status as a key global hub for food supply chains, combining strategic location with world-class infrastructure to address growing demands in the international food system.

By combining advanced logistics hubs with smart technology, the UAE is enhancing regional and global food security. The UAE network of ports, airports, and land transport links is ranked among the world’s most efficient, enabling seamless connectivity and rapid response to supply chain disruptions.

According to Mordor Intelligence, the Middle East’s food logistics sector is valued at $67.14 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $100.59 billion by 2030, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 8.42 percent. The UAE ranks as the region’s top performer and third globally in the Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index, trailing only China and India.

The Food Cluster Economy initiative of the UAE Ministry of Economy empowers the private sector to lead legislation, projects, and development plans. The framework integrates farms, factories, supply chains, and retail, creating a win-win model that strengthens national competitiveness while promoting sustainable growth.

Ports remain critical to this strategy. The famous Jebel Ali Port handles approximately 73 percent of the UAE’s food and beverage trade by value and connects businesses to over 150 ports worldwide, reinforcing the country’s leadership in global trade and logistics.

The UAE is also expanding its infrastructure with the Dubai Food District, a multi-phase project led by DP World, with the first stage expected to launch in 2027. The development will include cold storage, temperature-controlled warehousing, primary and secondary processing facilities, digital back-office solutions, cash-and-carry options, and a gourmet food hall, serving both business and consumer needs.

Mohamed Nasser, an expert at Halal Approval Global, said that, “The UAE’s strategic location at the crossroads of the Middle East, Asia, and Africa makes it a natural hub for global trade. Combined with integrated infrastructure and advanced logistics capabilities, the UAE ensures efficiency, security, and reliability in the movement of food products.”

Despite global supply chain volatility and price fluctuations, the UAE maintains a secure, efficient, and environmentally compliant food logistics environment, reinforcing its role as a trusted regional and international hub.
