Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has held a meeting with Kang Hoon-sik, Chief of Staff of Republic of Korea (South Korea) and Presidential Special Envoy to the UAE, in Abu Dhabi.
Both sides reaffirmed the significance of the ‘Special Strategic Partnership’ between the UAE and South Korea, underscoring their respective leadership’s steadfast commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding avenues of constructive and forward-looking cooperation in a manner that serves the long-term interests of both countries and their peoples.
The UAE-South Korea discussions explored opportunities to deepen and broaden collaboration across a range of key strategic sectors.
This includes artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, peaceful nuclear energy, space exploration, defense cooperation, renewable energy, smart infrastructure, digital transformation, trade and investment, as well as culture and people-to-people exchange, reflecting the depth, diversity and dynamism of the bilateral relationship.
On the sidelines of the meeting, EDGE Group and the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) signed two Memoranda of Understanding with South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Programme Administration (DAPA) to enhance cooperation in defense industries and advanced technology research, paving the way for joint projects, knowledge exchange, and the development of innovative capabilities in areas of mutual strategic interest.
The meeting was attended by Faisal Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EDGE, Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, UAE Ambassador to South Korea, along with a number of senior UAE officials and representatives from relevant entities, reflecting the importance both sides attach to advancing this growing partnership.
