HE Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy to Ukraine, has led a high-level UAE delegation on an official visit to Ukraine.
The visit aimed to advance business and investment ties, deepen economic cooperation, and expand humanitarian engagement. It underscores the UAE’s comprehensive approach to supporting Ukraine’s stability, recovery, and long-term development.
Minister Al Hashimy has met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, where she conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Furthermore, in recognition of the UAE’s contributions in supporting the Ukrainian people and its humanitarian collaborations, President Zelenskyy awarded Reem Al Hashimy the Order of Princess Olga, First Class, one of Ukraine’s highest civilian honors.
Throughout the visit, Reem Al Hashimy held a series of high-level meetings with Ukrainian counterparts including with Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine; Andrii Sybiha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; Oleksii Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment & Agriculture; and Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defence.
Discussions focused on advancing cooperation in trade, investment, digital transformation, infrastructure, agriculture, renewable energy, and other strategic sectors, supporting the ratification and implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which was signed in February 2025.
Reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to stability and humanitarian diplomacy, Al Hashimy noted its role in 17 captive exchanges, freeing 4,641 people. She met First Lady Olena Zelenska to sign a $5 million deal with her foundation, funding recovery centers, safe schools, and foster-family programs.
Al Hashimy visited a UAE-supported foster home, showcasing tangible impact. Since the conflict began, UAE aid to the country has reached over 1.2 million people through housing, relief supplies, and essential services, driving both immediate relief and long-term resilience.
Reem Al Hashimy’s visit underscores the UAE’s long-term strategic vision for partnership with Ukraine, seamlessly combining economic investment, private-sector collaboration, and humanitarian assistance, not merely as distinct pillars but as interdependent and interlocking elements of a holistic approach to sustainable development, post-conflict recovery, and the pursuit of lasting peace.
This vision reflects the UAE’s belief that economic empowerment, societal wellbeing, and humanitarian resilience must advance together, ensuring that efforts to rebuild are inclusive, innovation-driven, and capable of fostering enduring stability for future generations.
